I’ve created a MINI Linux distribution that fits in 4 diskettes, and
when installed takes only about 12 Meg of disk space. But it includes
X Windows, TCP/IP and most of the Unix commands.

I was discussing this with a friend and I was also reading some stuff
about all the consoles coming out ( Sony PSX, Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar,
Nintendo Ultra 64 ) and I came up with this question:

– why isnt a PC console coming up ?

A little box with a mini main board ( 486 and 4 Mb ), Soundblaster,
a good SVGA card with TV output, CDROM drive, and you’d have a great
games machine.

Of course the graphics card would have to be local bus. And I would
add a custom card with a sprite/polygon engine.

Of course that you can get this in a regular PC, but what I mean
is that a standardized system could be built like this and a OS for
it developed. A game OS, of course :-)

What ya think ?

Hi:

I have successfully setup an Internet service provider here in Portugal
during the last 5 months.

Right now we only provide mail & news access. We are unable to provide
full access ( ftp, telnet, etc ) because of the investment in leased lines
to foreign countries ( c. $5000 per month ).

Keep in mind that this Internet stuff is new here ( we are the first
commercial service; until now only the local Unix users group had any
kind of access ); as such we have been knocking on all the Portuguese
banks, explaining what it is and getting puzzled looks in return :-(

I’d like to get some tips/info on how to get a loan/credit/investment
abroad ( USA or Europe ) so that we could get into full access Internet
services providing. Or maybe a capitalist out there is interested in a
partnership :-)

Even though its now difficult to start an Internet Service Provider
in the US ( and other countries ) either because of too much
competition or too much costs, this is not true in Portugal and other
European countries.

If you’re interested in investing in such a business please contact
me at mvale…@esoterica.com. We are Esoterica, providing email&news
in Portugal and we need some venture capital to help us provide full
access.
